Solas Realta Fire Engineering is an independent consultancy practice specialising in fire safety engineering. We have a clear vision to provide a high quality holistic service to support developers, project managers, surveyors and architects with the design of buildings in relation to fire safety legislation, whilst respecting the overall architectural vision.

John Dowd BEng (Hons) MSc CEng MIFireE MCABE
Director
John is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (MIFireE) with a unique background of experience. Extensive knowledge and understanding have been gained both in a regulatory role within a Fire and Rescue Service and consultancy roles within the commercial fire engineering field.
This comprehensive exposure, covering a range of projects of varying complexities, working directly with clients and regulators in all sectors has allowed John to gain a fundamental understanding of fire safety legislation and property protection objectives within the built environment.
John has gained a true appreciation of architectural designs, client expectations, time and cost limitations, and most importantly, the benefits of team work in a project. Listening to a client and working collaboratively with a design team is imperative to delivering a successful project.
